Morphogenesis of Floating Bone Segments: A Legacy of Serial Tensile Cross-Strut Microdamage in Trabecular Disconnection “Crumple Zones”?

چکیده
Trabecular bone disconnection “hotspots” of real termini (ReTm) previously mapped as loci weakness in the female aging spine and hip may be a source free-floating cancellous segments found medullary space using bespoke, thick slice histological method for identifying ReTm. A factor their origin is apparently microdamage proliferation (differentiated by en bloc silver staining) with occasional callus moderation. Validation similar “floating segments” (FS) ex-breeder rat suggested pilot model potentially common phenomenon. Following marrow elution density fractionation isolated floating from whole proximal femora, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) elemental microanalysis (EDS) was performed. The eluent contained numbers vertically truncated, laterally branched (acute severance sequential tensile cross-struts, causing chronic compression overload axial-struts, ii) inadequate stabilising callus, facilitating ReTm stacking into predetermined, substructural “crumple zones” force containment, spheroidal attrition particulate dissociation. As catabolic outcome altered hormonal influence, FS number add novel variable to kinetics particularly women relevance fracture predisposition.

Previous studies have shown that microdamage accumulates in bone as a result of physiological loading and occurs naturally in human trabecular bone. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with pre-existing microdamage in human vertebral trabecular bone, namely age, architecture, hardness, mineral and organic matrix. Trabecular bone cores were collected from human L2 v...
متن کاملMicroarchitecture Influences Microdamage Accumulation in Human Vertebral Trabecular Bone
It has been suggested that accumulation of microdamage with age contributes to skeletal fragility. However, data on the age-related increase in microdamage and the association between microdamage and trabecular microarchitecture in human vertebral cancellous bone are limited. We quantified microdamage in cancellous bone from human lumbar (L(2)) vertebral bodies obtained from 23 donors 54-93 yr ...
متن کاملDetection of trabecular bone microdamage by micro-computed tomography.
Microdamage is an important component of bone quality and affects bone remodeling. Improved techniques to assess microdamage without the need for histological sectioning would provide insight into the role of microdamage in trabecular bone strength by allowing the spatial distribution of damage within the trabecular microstructure to be measured. Nineteen cylindrical trabecular bone specimens w...
